More Newfoundlanders step forward for Haiti

With everyone's mind still on the crisis in Haiti, I really hope that my bloggy-friends will pass this link around. A local artist has done a painting called "Kisses for Haiti" and is donating all proceeds from her ebay action to Doctors Without Borders/MSF for Haiti Relief.

I don't expect any of you to *buy* the painting just because of what it's for, I know money is tight, but it might catch someone's fancy- one of your other readers, someone with a connection to Newfoundland, anything.

For those of you who might not get the reference, the candy in the picture is called a "Purity Kiss"- It's a Newfoundland specific candy that tastes like molasses or other flavours.

You know, when I think people can't possibly become bigger jerks, more self-centered and cruel, then when a huge crisis comes, I am reminded that for each jerk, there are ninety nine pretty cool, decent people. They just don't make the news. I am proud to be part of the human race that is racing to help our fellow people in need. (On a totally unrelated thingy: I'm raising two little pine trees that I got in Boston at their Christmas lighting on the Commons that are from Newfoundland. And I'm in Texas, small world....love me my little, baby pines.)

hey, replying to your comment on my recent post. My son is 9. Sometimes he gets very intrigued by other challenged people and sometimes it startles him. Today was definitely one of those times when it went from intrigue to startling and it morphed pretty quickly. We keep an open dialogue at home so he feels safe to ask any and all questions without fear of rebuke.
